Miles Buckinghamshire

Miles Buckinghamshire, Chairman - Board of Trustees, Barnardo's Pension Scheme

Miles has over 30 years' experience in the pensions and investment industries. Miles headed up Watson Wyatt's Welwyn office and was also responsible for some of Watson Wyatt's major clients including amongst others, Eaton Corporation, Parker Hannifin and Nacco Industries. Currently, he is the Chair of 6 schemes and on the board of two others as well as acting as an Alternate on a number of BESTrustees clients. He was also the Partner in charge of the Watson Wyatt pensions administration outsourcing project for ICI in 1995/96. As the Earl of Buckinghamshire, Miles was a member of the House of Lords between 1984/1999. He took part in the All Party Group on Occupational Pensions and the All Party Group on Ageing Issues and was much involved in the pensions legislation before the House during that period.

Frances Corbett

Frances Corbett, Educational Development Manager, PENSIONFORCE, NAPF

Frances has been working in pensions far too many years to mention! Since 1995, however, she has been lucky enough to be involved in roles which concentrate on helping others develop their pension expertise. Since 2004 Frances has been responsible for a number of key NAPF learning and development initiatives and in October 2009 as Educational Development Manager became responsible for NAPF's education programmes, including PENSIONSFORCE a key initiative aimed at raising pensions' awareness in the workplace. Frances is a Fellow of both the Pensions Management Institute (PMI) and the Pensions Advisory Service (TPAS).

Francis is Head of Employee Share Plans and Share Registration at BT Group plc responsible for driving forward strategy, communications and administration of the group's UK and global share plans. He has been at BT for seven years. Before this he was a share plans consultant at Mercer's for two years. Before that he was Employee Share Schemes Unit manager at HM Revenue & Customs for six years, including during the introduction of the UK Share Incentive Plan (SIP) and UK EMI legislation

David Pitt-Watson

David Pitt-Watson, Author, Building the consensus for a People's Pension in Britain

David is the author of Building the consensus for a People's Pension in Britain and a director of Oxford Analytica. He is also chairman of Hermes shareholder activist funds. He began his career at 3i and McKinsey & Co and went on to help establish Braxton Associates Limited, which became the strategic consulting arm of Deloitte. He was, for 12 years, a partner at Deloitte, and has subsequently acted as a senior advisor to the firm. He has worked as an adviser to government officials and to senior politicians of all political parties, particularly on policy issues concerning governance and financial market reform. From 1997-99, he was the Finance Director of the Labour Party. A graduate of Oxford and Stanford Universities, David was visiting professor of strategic management at Cranfield School of Management (1990-1995). He is a trustee of the Institute for Public Policy Research. He has spoken and published widely on corporate governance and other business and economic issues. He is a Director of the International Corporate Governance Network.

Francis O'Mahony

Mike Sullivan, President, Veolia Environnement UK

Mike has over 30 years experience in the pensions and employee benefits industry. He is a Fellow of the Pensions Management Institute and is a member of the Institute's governing Council in his second term of office. He is currently Chairman of the PMI's Trusteeship Committee having previously chaired Membership and Marketing Committees. Prior to joining Council he was Chairman of the London Regional Group of the PMI for a number of years. Mike worked for several different consultancies before taking on the in-house role of Head of Employee Benefits and Pensions at (what is now) Veolia UK Limited in April 1999. Veolia UK is the UK senior company of a French owned multi-utility group. In January 2002 Mike joined the Veolia Environnement SA Head Office HR team based in Paris in the role of Head of International Pensions– a job which, at the moment, he does whilst retaining his UK responsibilities. Mike has for many years been a voluntary advisor for the Pensions Advisory Service. As Secretary to his firm's Corporate Trustee Board, which is responsible for funds of c£500m for three different trusts, Mike is keenly aware of the pressures which trustees are under - both currently and how these will increase in the future. He is anxious to ensure that the wealth of knowledge built up by experienced lay trustees is not lost through their fears of the new pressures under which they will find themselves and is committed to helping trustees through this period of transition.

Anne-Marie Winton

Anne-Marie Winton, President, Pensions Management Institute

Anne-Marie Winton is particularly skilled in leading parties through commercial pensions negotiations, whether these relate to funding, benefit redesign, outsourcing, corporate restructuring, dealing with the Pensions Regulator or otherwise. Anne-Marie has more than ten years of experience in project managing international transactions for UK and overseas clients, advising on the UK pensions aspects, working with local counsel and acting as a single point of contact to co-ordinate the advice given over multiple practice areas. Anne-Marie is recognised in Chambers 2010 as a Leader in Pensions, and as someone who provides "a focused service with succinct and user-friendly advice, often to tight deadlines". She has also previously been described in Chambers as someone who "thinks outside the box" and is "always very fast to respond". She is a member of the Association of Pension Lawyers and is secretary of the APL's Education and Seminars Committee. Anne-Marie is also a member of the CBI's virtual pensions panel. Anne-Marie is a well-known commentator on legal issues in the pensions industry press. She features on a weekly basis in Professional Pensions and Pensions Week and has been quoted in the FT. Anne-Marie speaks regularly at conferences for the NAPF, PMI, APL and commercial providers.

Tim Middleton

Tim Middleton, Technical Consultant, Pensions Management Institute

Tim has worked in the pensions industry since 1987. His roles have covered consultancy with Bacon & Woodrow (now Aon Hewitt), Mercer and Barnett Waddingham. He is currently Technical Consultant for the Pensions Management Institute (PMI), where he works extensively on the External Affairs Committee and provides input into PMI’s education programme. He also writes frequently for the pensions press. He is a Fellow of the PMI and holds the CII’s Diploma in Financial Planning. He is a past chairman of the PMI’s London Group.

Tom Humphris, Head Office HR & UK Reward Director, Boots

Thomas commenced his HR career as an Area HR Manager for Boots the Chemist, responsible for all UK Airports and Train Station stores. After 10 years at Boots, working in both Store Management & HR, he left the company to become the Head of Global HR for MMS International. This was a venture capital backed business, which required a significant amount of restructuring and new product implementation within a very short timescale. After 18 months of successful trading the business was sold and Thomas successfully integrated the existing business into the new parent company, across 10 countries. Following this integration, he moved to another venture capital backed business called Snell & Wilcox, which manufactures broadcasting equipment to the media industry.

At Snell & Wilcox, Thomas was the Head of HR, working across 11 countries, before commencing his current employment at Informa as the HR Director for the Maritime and Transport division. Thomas has been working at Informa for the last 6 years and has now progressed to the position of Head Office HR & UK Reward Director. Thomas’s team have won a number industry awards and recognition, specifically relating to the UK employee benefits offering, through innovative marketing and engagement techniques for 3,600 UK based employees.

Gregg McClymont, MP, Shadow Pensions Minister

Gregg McClymont was born and brought up in Cumbernauld. He attended Kildrum Primary School and Cumbernauld High School between 1981 and 1993.

Gregg graduated from Glasgow University in 1997 and subsequently won the Thouron Scholarship, which paid for him to live and study history at the University of Pennsylvania.

Gregg returned to Cumbernauld in 1999 before doing a PhD in history at Oxford University. He taught history there until May 2010, when he was selected to replace outgoing Labour MP Rosemary McKenna to fight the seat of Cumbernauld, Kilsyth and Kirkintilloch East at the 2010 general election. He won the seat with a 13,755 majority and over 57% of the votes cast. In parliament, Gregg has sat on the House of Commons select committees on Science and Technology, and Business, Innovation and Skills. He also held the post of Parliamentary Private Secretary to shadow Secretary of State for Scotland Ann McKechin. In early 2011, he moved on to the Labour front bench as an assistant whip, before becoming the Shadow Pensions Minister for the Department of Work and Pensions in October 2011.

Richard has many years experience in the financial services sector and specialises in worksite communications. Richard has spent the last 18 years with product providers and in consultancy delivering and installing workplace pension solutions for employers. Richard and his team are primarily responsible for raising awareness of NEST among employers. Richard is a member of the Personal Finance Society and the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII)

The Platforum is an advisory, research and events business which specialises in platforms. Tina Harris joined The Platforum team to focus on independent research in the developing market of Corporate Platforms, also known as Corporate Wraps.

Tina has worked in Financial Services for over 20 years, predominantly for large national IFAs. Her previous roles bring experience of working with employers to understand their needs and the needs of their employees. Mike Acred, Pensions Manager - Performance and Reward,LV=

Appointed Pensions Manger of the LV= Employee Pension scheme in 2011. Prior to this he developed the Client Service Manager role for the Corporate Pensions division of London & Manchester (now Friends Life).

Early in his career, Mike gained considerable administrative experience on both DB and DC and later working on key development projects. Mike is a member of two forums: The Aberdeen Asset Management Advisory Panel and AonHewitts development forum. The LV= Scheme is a £1b closed DB with a trust based DC scheme.
